Land for landless

Datuk Ramlee MarahabanSEMPORNA (Feb 6): Sabah Assistant Minister of Finance Datuk Ramlee Marahaban (pictured) said the granting of state land and forest reserve land to the landless is among the responsibility of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

Ramlee, who is also Sabah Umno information deputy chief, said the granting of land under the Sabah Born Land Survey Project (Pantas) and communal grants is proof of the BN government’s pledge of people first.

“The BN government is the champion when it comes to helping the people,” he told reporters after launching the Pantas Lihak-Lihak Zone and surveying of communal grants for Mount Pock and Tanjung Nagos here on Saturday.

Ramlee slammed the opposition for creating the negative perception that the land grant and the aid given by the BN government were an attempt to buy votes.

“Do not listen to talks by these mosquitoes and flies (opposition) who associate the aid with politics as it is the responsibility of the government,” he added.

The granting of native titles for 690ha under the Pantas Lihak-Lihak Zone will benefit about 200 families who have occupied state land since 1968.

The land surveying for Mount Pock and Tanjung Nagos covering 2,072ha will benefit 748 settlers who will receive communal grants.
